Paul Driscoll was hired by FWF Nocturnal Commissioner Yuriko Montoya after another FWF Commissioner, Vincent Carpathia of FWF Fraktured, put a prized member of the roster through several inhuman challenges. Hired to "send a message", he performed his tasks and then quickly become uncontrollable, wreaking havoc across the FWF for several months without any rhyme or reason to his attacks.

Red Umbra was eventually contacted by Montoya for protection from Driscoll, which fell through after Umbra's fight against Dante caused her to go on hiatus to heal from her injuries. Montoya then hired a right hand man, Shivain, for the same role, who did the best job he could given the circumstances, but he too eventually proved not enough.

Enlisting the help of Dr. Crowley, Montoya enacted Operation: Rat Trap, designed to ensnare Driscoll with the purpose of sending him away via teleportation. While the plot did not go off without hitches, it was ultimately successful, with Driscoll's whereabouts becoming unknown for several months.
